DEMO TAPE O'THE WEEK
BLOODROSES

This collection of sprawling, rootsy songs come, in the words of Mr. T Experience’s Dr. Frank, from love’s dusty trail.  Backed by the surprisingly laid-back drumming of Tommy Rickard, formerly of S.F. hard rock champions Clarke Nova, singer Michelle Muldrow’s voice is a cross between Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval and Shawn Colvin - and on “Love Hook” she sounds like commercial gold.  “Roadside” is one of those melancholy songs that could have been written while looking out the window of a tour bus, as Muldrow’s aching vocals wrap around lines like “All those Hollywood dreams/Now alone in some bar.”  Ben Jacobs’ B-3 Hammnd playing and Erik Meade’s bluesy soloing are solid, bringing the song to a close with the flavor of one of Bob Seger’s classic extended jams.
